All swaps need a tune. Why?
add timing, and that’s when you feel it “take off.” The downside? Poor MPG, less power, and a misleading “butt dyno.” For anyone running a swap without a tune—trust me, your seat-of-the-pants feel is way off.
Now, if you think it feels decent untuned, just imagine how much better it gets after a proper tune. The difference is night and day. Back when swaps first started getting popular, guys would drop them in, skip the tune, and then line up against 1st gens—only to get walked hard.
