This was a direct replacement for a 2002–2003 5th-gen Nissan Maxima with OEM navigation. It wasn’t a swap, just a straight replacement of the original unit. These 5th-gen units are known for issues like buttons falling off, often forcing owners to use a paperclip to press them. Since the climate controls are integrated into the unit, it’s essential to keep a functioning one—you can’t easily convert to standard climate controls without extensive modification.
It’s worth noting that the unit from the Nissan Stagea (1996–2001) works as a replacement. The compatible part number is CC5W-3811G / 28090-8L002. The only downside is that the navigation won’t function, as it’s based on the Japanese market, but the climate controls work perfectly.
